Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Cops busted the Jamtara gang after revealing their new method of stashing money obtained through fraudulent loan applications and bogus power bill scams in e-way toll wallets and fuel-filling cards for cars.
When police started looking into a power bill fraud from Tollygunge on March 3, it came under scrutiny.
"According to Anuraj Chaturvedi, he received a phony SMS purporting to be from CESC. Then he got in touch with the con artist and downloaded an app. Afterward, Rs 50,000 was moved from his account to the Drive Track Plus card account of a big oil company," DC (cyber) Atul V stated.
Shivshankar Mandal (34), Mithun Mandal (27), and Tapan Kumar Mandal, all from Jamtara, were detained, according to Atul V.
